Matchbox algebra symbols Level 4

For this option, you are given 20 problems expressed in traditional algebraic form. The aim is to use the tools to deduce the value of x. A feature of this option is that the value of x can be a fraction or a negative number. Note that for equations with fractional or negative solutions, the matchbox approach is difficult to use meaningfully.

At any time you can:
–add or subtract matches or boxes to or from both sides of the equation, or
–divide each term in the equation by an integer, provided that integer is a common factor of each term, or
-Swap over the left and right sides of the equation, or
–click on the “review" button to open a window displaying each of the operations that have been performed so far on the equation, or
–move to the next or previous problem, or
–repeat the current problem by clicking on the problem number button, or
–display the equation in matchbox form by clicking on the selector box above the current one, or
–move to another level by clicking on any other selector box.
